H7 Story: Team Bash Ball Recipient # 7

Team Code Maxim #7 says, “We multiply influence by reproducing leaders.”
Anna Sutton was the recipient of Team Ball #7 at FCC’s last Team Bash. “Anna has been the Kids' coach at Afton for over eighteen months and has done an amazing job at adopting the Afton Kids Team as her people,” Early Childhood Director Samantha Schubert explained. Samantha went on to share that when Anna took over, volunteers were on the verge of quitting due to clean-up pressures. “Anna pretty much instantly found a solution and has helped us make it work well for over a year. The previous volunteers who were overwhelmed by clean-up were able to continue to enjoy serving in the ways that they are best able, and the new clean-up team gets to find joy in serving the local church.”

Anna herself shared how she got into the kids’ ministry. “We began attending FCC almost 9 years ago,” she began. “When I first thought about starting to serve, my background in education and love of kids led me to kids min. I started serving as a small group leader for second and third graders and over time began to lead a large group.” Anna is now the Afton Kids Coach and serves on the Kids Min Curriculum Team.

Anna detailed that teaching kids the gospel has been more rewarding than she ever could’ve imagined. “While there are days that feel crazy, seeing the kids come to know Jesus and understand the Bible is something I will never take for granted.” As the Kids’ Min Leader, she is tasked with helping kids grow in their faith. However, Anna shared that, in reality, the kids have helped her grow in her own faith. “The kids always keep things interesting (especially with some of their questions) and keep us laughing and on our toes, but seeing them learn the Bible and begin to understand God’s love for them has been an incredible thing to witness.”

Anna also noted that serving in Kids’ Min has led to meeting some incredible fellow volunteers. “I love that we pray for each other and work together as a team,” she began. “The volunteers’ dedication to the mission of FCC and to the families and kids in our church is so encouraging. I couldn’t ask for better volunteers to work with! The volunteers and kids make serving at FCC a joy!”
